Ready to Start

We're about ready to start the event - after a nice lunch. The techys at EPIC have plugged in wires but not actually activated things - so its just me blogging on my 3G card.

Chris Gribble, director of NWP is kicking things of, introducing us to the home of Tricia and Sale of the Century!

Today's event is focussed on getting non-venue based literary organisations together to talk about the challenges around building their audiences - and how digital can help. Its all about building communities both of writers and readers.

The difficulty of predicting the future in an artform sense - i.e. "new forms of writing" - means that we should try and talk about the connections between art and technology, rather than one or the other.

Chris Meade, director of If:Book (sister org. to Institute of the Book) is giving the first presentation, about their Read:Write report - about the digital opps for literature.
